Class Comment - Movie Theater Immersion

A little while back in class, we had a discussion about if movie theater food is part of the immersive experience. This is my persuasive blog post on why I think it is.
You walk in the doors of the movie theater and smell the fresh buttery popcorn. You first go to the ticket stand and buy your ticket for whatever movie you're watching. Next, you walk over to the snack bar and scan your options (My go-to is an icee and twizlers). You then take that snack and go find your seat and settle down. Throughout the movie, you munch on your snack.
I understand that the features of the immersive experience are things you cannot experience at home - like the surround sound, giant screen, and reclining chairs. However, I would argue that you cannot get the same kind of snacks at home that you do at the movies. Microwave popcorn is no comparison to the buttery movie theater popcorn. At home, there are no icee makers or soda machines with all of the flavors. At your house all that is available is what happens to be in the cabinets. At the movies, every type of candy and soda is available to you at the swipe of a credit card.
Overall, watching a movie with the smell of popcorn all around and in your mouth the whole time is a part of the whole experience. My opinion is the movies wouldn't be the same without its snacks.
